The Stockholm Initiative for Digital Diplomacy was the first major international meeting about digital diplomacy, and the main aim was to bring together some of the world leaders in the field, establish a network and exchange experiences. The informal group, a legacy of the first international digital diplomacy conference held in Stockholm in 2014, has long recognized the importance of fostering an environment in which issues of global importance could be discussed on-line. Over the years, the group has shared ideas, hashtags and best practices. Andreas Sandre Andreas Sandre is a Press and Public Affairs Officer at the Embassy of Italy in Washington DC. He is the author of "Twitter for Diplomats” (February 2013) and he has contributed articles on foreign policy, innovation, and digital diplomacy to numerous publications, including the Huffington Post, the Global Policy Journal, and BigThink.
